Points of Interest

The Beach

The beach can be accessed by walking down the laneway and walking through the Jayakarta Hotel grounds. Occasionally a guard may ask you to walk the long way around but most are okay.

The local Legian Beach is patrolled and a really good beach for surfing (at high tide) & swimming,  just be careful of rips. At first you will be hassled by beach sellers for watches, hats, cheap jewellery or a massage. The beach locals are honest, friendly people. Don’t get frustrated, enjoy the experience and have a joke with them. They are just trying to earn a living. Negotiate a set rate for lounges, boogie boards etc. Rp 20,000 for each use of these ie; 2-3 hours is a good starting point and then use this rate for the rest of your holiday as once a deal is negotiated you don’t have to re-negotiate each time if you use the same hirer.

Transport

If you require daily transport please go to Bemo corner just near the gates of the Jayakarta. Prices will vary according to the season and how busy the drivers are but approximate rates are as follows.

Rp. 150,000 – 250,000 for half day.
Rp. 250,000 – 400,000 for full day (all inclusive for anywhere you wish to go.)
Once you have used the services of a driver they like to form a business relationship with you and have you use them anytime you need transport. This also saves a lot of time in bargaining.

When travelling locally the blue taxis are metered, cheap and don’t require negotiation on price (Make sure to ask to put the meter on).

Eating Out

Within walking distance of Robins Place are numerous restaurants, nightclubs and shops check out the restaurant guide attached to this information sheet for some recommended eat outs.

Money Changing

Be careful of changing money on the street. The official money changer on the left side of Jalan Werkudura going towards Legian Rd (300 metres from intersection, red & yellow signs) is legitimate. An ATM machine which will operate if you have a visa card with a PIN is located around the corner at the start of Jln Werkudara.

Please settle your account with Robi in either US or Australian dollars in cash.
